Privacy Policy

Your cycle data — the periods, symptoms, and ovulation tests you log — is stored on your iPhone and is never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no accounts and no server holding your health information. Orbit does collect a small amount of anonymous usage data about which features get opened, and it sends us your message if you choose to submit feedback. This policy explains exactly what that means.

Who we are

Orbit is published by Manikandan R, trading as Synvel, in India. Under data protection law such as the GDPR, that is the data controller for the limited information described below. For any question about this policy or about your data, write to hello@synvel.in.

Your health data stays on your device

Everything you log is written to a private database inside the app's own storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS app sandboxing and your device passcode or biometrics. Orbit never transmits it off your device. That covers your period start dates, the moods and physical symptoms you select, your ovulation (LH) test dates and results, your tracking goal, cycle length and regularity, and your reminder and appearance settings.

Orbit has no user accounts, no login, and no cloud sync. We cannot see your cycle data, and we could not recover it for you if you lost your phone — which is why the app can produce a backup file that you control.

Your data may be included in your device backups (such as iCloud or encrypted local backups) if you have backups enabled. Those backups are managed by Apple and your device settings, not by Orbit.

Orbit does not read from or write to Apple Health (HealthKit), and does not request access to your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or location.

What does leave your device

Three things leave your device. None of them carry the health data described above.

1. Anonymous usage analytics

Orbit uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand which parts of the app people use. These events record that something happened, never the content of what you logged. This is the complete list:

• Finished onboarding — which wording of the final button was shown.
• Logged a period — the event only, with no date attached.
• Logged symptoms — how many moods and how many physical symptoms were selected, never which ones.
• Logged an ovulation test — the event only, with neither the result nor the date attached.
• Opened a tab — which tab: Home, Calendar, Trends, or Profile.
• Answered the prediction prompt — whether you tapped helpful or not helpful.
• A prediction was checked against reality — how many days the prediction was off by, as a number.
• Tapped a feedback prompt — the event only.

No dates, symptom names, or test results are ever included. Alongside these events, the Firebase SDK automatically collects standard technical information: a randomly generated app-instance identifier, your device model, iOS version, app version, and an approximate country derived from your IP address. That identifier is specific to this installation of the app — it is not your name, email, or Apple ID, and it resets if you delete and reinstall Orbit.

We have explicitly disabled the use of this data for advertising personalisation, and Orbit shows no ads. Google processes this data on our behalf as our analytics provider; see Firebase's privacy information.

2. App configuration

Orbit uses Firebase Remote Config to occasionally adjust small details of the app — for example, testing two wordings of a button — without shipping an update. The app requests this configuration from Google; it does not send your health data in order to do so.

3. Feedback you choose to send

If you open Profile → Send Feedback and submit the form, Orbit sends the category you picked, the message you typed, and your app version through Formspree, which delivers it to us by email. We deliberately do not attach your tracking goal, your cycle data, or any device identifier.

Because the message is free text, it contains exactly what you write in it. If you include personal or health details, those details reach us and are stored in our email — so please share only what you are comfortable sending.

What we never do

• We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
• We do not share your cycle data with advertisers, data brokers, insurers, or employers — we do not have it to share.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not use the advertising identifier.
• We do not build advertising profiles from health data.
• We do not require an account, an email address, or a phone number to use the app.

Reminders

If you turn on period or ovulation reminders, Orbit schedules them locally on your iPhone using iOS's built-in notification system. No push server is involved and no notification data leaves your device. You can turn reminders off in Profile, or revoke the permission entirely in iOS Settings.

Exporting your own data

Orbit can generate a PDF report, a CSV file, or a JSON backup of what you have logged. These files are created on your device and handed to the standard iOS share sheet. Where they go next is entirely your choice — Orbit does not upload them anywhere. Once you share a file into another app or service, that service's privacy policy applies to it.

Deleting your data

Open Profile → Your Data → Delete Data. This permanently erases your logged periods, symptoms, and ovulation tests from the device, resets your profile and settings, and cancels any scheduled reminders. It is immediate and cannot be undone. Deleting the app from your iPhone also removes all of its stored data.

Neither action retroactively deletes past anonymous analytics events, because they are not linked to you and we have no way to tell which ones came from your device. If you have sent us feedback and would like that email deleted, just ask.

How long things are kept

Your cycle data stays on your device for as long as you keep the app, and is under your control the whole time.

In Google Analytics we keep event data for 2 months, the shortest period Google offers, and data associated with the app-instance identifier for 14 months. Because the "reset on new user activity" option is switched on, that 14-month window restarts each time you use Orbit — so the identifier lasts while the app is in regular use, and expires 14 months after you stop. Aggregated reporting, such as how many people opened the Trends tab in a given month, is not affected by these limits.

Feedback emails are kept only as long as we need them to act on what you told us.

Children

Orbit is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the feedback form, contact us and we will delete it.

Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the GDPR in the EEA and UK, and the CCPA/CPRA in California — you have rights to access, correct, delete, port, and object to the processing of your personal data.

With Orbit, most of these are exercised directly in the app rather than by writing to us: your health data lives only on your device, and you can view it, export it in a portable format, and delete it permanently without our involvement. For the anonymous analytics data we cannot link events to an individual, so we are unable to identify your particular records. For anything else, or to make a formal request, write to us.

Security

Your cycle data is protected by iOS's app sandbox and by your device's own encryption, which is active whenever the device is locked with a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID. Data sent to our analytics and feedback providers travels over encrypted HTTPS connections. Keeping your device locked and up to date remains the single most effective protection for what Orbit stores.

Orbit's predictions are estimates based on what you log. Orbit is not a medical device and is not a method of contraception, and it does not provide medical advice. Please talk to a healthcare professional about anything concerning your health.

Changes to this policy

If Orbit's privacy practices change, we will update this page and note the new date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
